The Insulator is responsible for installing and maintaining thermal and acoustic insulation systems in various industrial, commercial, and residential settings. They apply insulation materials to pipes, ducts, boilers, and other equipment to ensure energy efficiency, temperature control, and safety. Insulators work with a variety of materials such as fiberglass, foam, and mineral wool, and are crucial in maintaining a comfortable environment and reducing energy costs.
Key Duties and Requirements
- Install, maintain, and repair insulation on pipes, tanks, boilers, ductwork, and other mechanical systems.
- Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials to required specifications.
- Apply insulation to ensure temperature control, noise reduction, and energy efficiency.
- Ensure that insulation is applied according to safety standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Inspect and maintain existing insulation to prevent energy loss and damage.
- Follow safety protocols, including wearing PPE, and adhering to proper handling and disposal of insulation materials.
- Requires physical strength and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights.
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; certification or apprenticeship in insulation work is a plus. Prior experience in insulation or construction is beneficial.
